I am on vacation this week. With the heat I'm not getting many miles in. I was going to leave Saturday, then I was going to leave Sunday, but it was so hot and I was finding things to do to keep busy at home. Monday when I got up, we were having massive thunderstorms with heavy rain. It was cool behind the storms, so I left then. It didn't stay cool for long, though, and I found more storms as I headed south. I had planned to camp but I ended up getting a motel room rather than camp in a lightning storm. This morning it was still hot.

Today I visited Iron Pony and bought one of those evaporative cooling vests. Seems to work OK but it's still steamy here. I'm at the Lafayette, in Marietta OH, tonight. This is a cool historic hotel. I have stayed here before and I always like it. The room am in in has a canopy bed and padded window seats overlooking the river, and cost me less than I'd have spent for a boring modern hotel out by the freeway.

Sounds like a great hotel. Bummer about messed up plans. We've been holed up inside A/C for a while. The weather reporter this morning brought it to crystal clarity: We average 12 days a year in the 100+ range. Already this year we're at 18 days.

Hope things end up as a good vacation.

Going north might have been cooler but I also think they have been getting more rain up there.

We almost stopped by yesterday, on our way home from Camp Perry, until I remembered A.) you were prolly traveling this week (based on your CM messages) and B.) I had the camper in tow, and I'm not sure I could get turned around in your neighborhood, once I got the whole rig in there.

Oh well... As we crossed the Interstate on US-23, we faced your direction and waved.
