elizillaI am on vacation this week. With the heat I'm not getting many miles in. I was going to leave Saturday, then I was going to leave Sunday, but it was so hot and I was finding things to do to keep busy at home. Monday when I got up, we were having massive thunderstorms with heavy rain. It was cool behind the storms, so I left then. It didn't stay cool for long, though, and I found more storms as I headed south. I had planned to camp but I ended up getting a motel room rather than camp in a lightning storm. This morning it was still hot.
Today I visited Iron Pony and bought one of those evaporative cooling vests. Seems to work OK but it's still steamy here. I'm at the Lafayette, in Marietta OH, tonight. This is a cool historic hotel. I have stayed here before and I always like it. The room am in in has a canopy bed and padded window seats overlooking the river, and cost me less than I'd have spent for a boring modern hotel out by the freeway.
