So my blood work came back, and the doctor wants me to come in tomorrow morning for a vitamin B12 injection.

Edit: Here's the back story. Lately my feet are cold all the time. Unusually cold. This has been going on for a couple years, actually, and has led me to become extremely picky about footwear. But even the best shoes and boots have not helped. [livejournal.com profile] onefaller has been nagging me to go have this looked at. I felt like a complete hypochondriac fool, but I finally went. Was surprised to find, the doctor took this symptom seriously. He ordered this blood work, and found I am low on vitamin B12. He thinks the shot will help very quickly, like in a week. I hope so. I'm guessing that if it does, he'll want me to take a supplement or change my diet or something. I hope I don't have to keep going in for shots all the time, but if I do, well, there are worse things, like having annoyingly cold feet!

Which reminds me, it's time to take my multi-vitamin.

Sorry to hear your bloodwork is weird. I assume they'll also tell you what to do to make it more normal. Ick.

Wow... that's interesting.

You can buy some kind of power drink in little silver bottles at Costco and it has 46,000% of the RDA for B12 (I am not making this up). Perhaps if you slam one of those it will be good for you. I has lots of other vitamin components as well as caffeine.

Vitamin B12 "poisoning" shouldn't be a concern; unless you have other B12-related issues (like abnormally high levels in your bloodstream), excess B12 is removed from the body in the urine. And since you're already testing low... Well, you know.

Your body knows how much B12 it needs (which may or may not coincide with RDAs) and dispenses with the rest.

Dunno 'bout that... You could always try the Keith Richards Treatment and have all your blood replaced.

You take B12 supplements too. You must really deficient, if they want to give it to you in a shot.

Are you a vegetarian? Changing your diet would probably mean eating more meat.
