Jun. 5th, 2007 11:23 pmTonight I am in McCall Idaho, staying with Willie from the V-Strom forum. This is a very beautiful place. Today I rode through some surprisingly nice roads in eastern Oregon, there are lush green canyons hiding just below the desert, lots of nice sweepers, and hardly any people. I saw a TDM parked in front of a house in John Day. My cell phone reception out here has been terrible. Good thing Willie is letting me use his PC. Spring is not as far advanced here - we had our lilacs several weeks ago, and theirs are just peaking. Weather reports say it may snow here tonight. Willie wanted to know what time I planned to get on the road in the morning, and I said "probably not too early if it's that cold" so we agreed that he and his wife and I will go out to breakfast around 9:30. His daughter is disappointed, she has to go to school and will miss out. We discussed whether I should try for Lolo Pass tomorrow, or go back south, and they think it should be fine up there by the time I get there, later in the day.
I suppose once I get to I-90 I will start doing a lot more slab, since I will only have four more days and the weather forecasts for the upper midwest are calling for rain everywhere I expect to be, for the next several days. If it dries out I can always take some detours.
