Go crazy, it's a Tuesday night!
Feb. 27th, 2007 11:48 pmIt was an exciting night tonight at Tios. First, we had a new guy show up. John is newly graduated from Michigan Tech and got a job somewhere in this area, and he'd heard that Tios was the place for an SF fan to be on Tuesday nights. It was great to meet him.
Next, we had a fellow wander into Tios looking for a lighter, I think. It wasn't clear exactly what he wanted since he was mumbling drunk or stoned or something like that. He took Alex's lighter and lit two cigarettes. Tios is nonsmoking so they told him he had to take it outside, at which point he became belligerent and said he was an American too. Alex, thinking quickly and showing remarkable social grace, invited the guy to come outside and they would smoke together, and persuaded him to go outside. Go Alex!
Then Alex came back inside, and the drunk got upset out there alone and started pounding on the window and yelling. The woman at the counter called the cops, and called to us that we should lock the front door, which we did. The drunk guy then started pounding on the door, and eventually smashed the window! Safety glass everywhere!
Then he took off. The Tios delivery guy followed him in a car, reported his movements back via cellphone, and the cops had apprehended him within ten minutes or so.
Alex got a little glass in the skin next to his eye, but he was able to remove it and said he didn't need medical treatment. The folks at Tios gave him a free burrito. It got cold in Tios pretty quickly, and we were finished eating, so after Alex finished giving his statement to the cops, I gave him a ride home.
The new guy, John, said it was certainly more exciting than staying home on a Tuesday night.
