Dexter Daze

elizillaLast weekend was Dexter Daze. Friday and Saturday, so I took vacation on Friday just to have more time to enjoy the festival. And pi3832 came out from Chicago to spend the weekend with us.
The weather was perfect.
I signed up for a two hour shift at the Western Washtenaw Democrats booth. It was nice to meet the like-minded people who stopped by. One nutcase came up to holler at us that we should leave America if we hate it so much. We just rolled our eyes. I mean seriously, who does that? There are probably people on the other side who would be ashamed of this dude, even, though I suppose they're being pushed out.
I bought a fancy garden ornament made of art glass. This seems to be my thing; I bought something like this last year too. I bought popcorn from a booth where they were fundraising for the high school wrestling team, and ended up letting one of the dads test ride the trike - though I set the speed limiter to "1" which mean he had a max speed of 1.5 mph, because of the crowd. Even so, he came back and said he'd run over someone's foot. Oops. LOL!
I did not win $10K from the Gordon Hall raffle, and I did not win the playhouse from the Rotary Club raffle. I didn't win the duck race either but that's because I didn't buy a duck.
Our BBQ was well attended and fun.
Sunday night I taught my neighbor, Karen, to ride the trike and we rode them across town to the Mexican restaurant for dinner.
pi3832 worked on stuff; it is what he likes to do. He discovered a fancy controller in the box of Lionel train things my dad had provided, and got it working. He also got the BMW R250 started, and repaired a lot of its wiring, and the headlight bezel. Thank you Mike!
