Wow, for all that our house does not look very dirty, it is managing to fill its dust compartment pretty quickly. And it doesn't tell us when it is full; when it can't hold any more it just pushes dust bunnies into piles and leaves them, which is how we noticed it had filled SO FAST on its first round in the living room. So far it has not run out of charge and gone back to base, without me pushing the Home button on the remote to get it to stop and be emptied. I guess it will catch up eventually. We emptied the compartment four times yesterday.

Update, 1pm... I set it going again, around 11am, and this time it ran until it went "home" on its own. At which point the compartment was full but not as tightly packed as yesterday. I left it turned on and it should start again when it finishes charging. We'll see if the next round gives dwindling returns. When it does, then I will move it along to the basement.

I may need a robot vacuum!

I await further news. Our experience of a robot vacuum cleaner was that the amount of time that we spent cleaning the wheel axles was more than we spent wielding a manual vacuum cleaner. We are better at tasks like vacuuming than you (though we may lack in selfstarting ability). Also, we have four cats and that may make a significant difference to the axle-clogging.

I don't have any cats... so I may do better.

I was thinking just that, when I wrote: that the unclogging is a sitting task. I apologize for not making it explicit. Wondrous device that does a bunch of work for us and then puts itself away.

If we can find all of the pieces (charger/base station, fence-post emitting stations), then it may be reasonable for you to borrow ours, for a trial.

That could work, too!
