Friday night I cleaned out a shelf unit I had in my bedroom, and yesterday morning Michael helped me move it into the walk-in closet. My room looks so spacious without that huge piece of furniture. I found my garage door remote; I've been looking all over for it since last summer. It was in a plastic bag with a bunch of hair ribbons. I hate when I put things "somewhere safe" and then I can't find them!

Yesterday afternoon I got out on the bike for a little ride. It was a beautiful day, sunny with temps in the 40s. I saw one other rider out, and I swear that even through the face shield of his helmet I could see a grin as wide as my own on his face.

Had one bit of excitement when I went past Arborland Mall and discovered that workmen had opened two fire hydrants on Washtenaw, creating a giant pond at the bottom of the hill. Cars were plunging in up past their axles as they splashed through it. I didn't want to get soaked, or to coat my bike with salty water, so I made a split second decision and turned left to cut through the parking lot that runs parallel to Washtenaw, down past the Denny's. I looked around carefully for a badge-wielding cretin, and fortunately none appeared. I'm sure that even if I had been pulled over for that maneuver, the Ann Arbor cops are a lot more professional than the ones in Lynn MA, so it wouldn't have been a problem.

Later, after dark, I drove the truck over to Tammy and Eric's for a wonderful dinner of Indian food cooked by Iain. It was fun to hang out with those folks, but I was sorry I didn't get more chance to visit with Iain. He was so busy cooking, and so quiet.

Today I took my Toshiba laptop in and dropped it off for warranty service. It powers off at random intervals; it's been doing it for months. But it only does it about once a week. I hope they don't tell me they can't duplicate the problem. I want them to either fix it or replace it. I have only three months left on the service contract and I'd like to have things working right when the service contract ends.
