Flora and fauna
Sep. 14th, 2018 10:22 pmToday we lifted the gladiolus bulbs - they are not winter hardy here. They were enormous! I don’t think we will need to buy any new ones next year. We were going to replace them with mums but when we went to buy mums, they had this cool looking purple stuff, alongside the mums. I don’t know what it is called but the flowers look like purple chenille caterpillars. We got some of that as well. After we got home I decided I liked it so much I would go back and get a few more pots of it
Which is how I met a woman who asked me about Subarus. It turned out she had a unique requirement. She needed a car she can carry goats in. Goats? I asked, does she often carry goats in her car? Oh yes, people hire them for weddings. Apparently this is a trendy new wedding thing. Goats. Who knew?
The purple flowers look great. I am not the only one who liked them, either. They had just unloaded a bunch of it this morning and when I went back for more there was hardly any left. No one I talked to there knew anything about it except it is an annual; they didn’t think they had ever had it before. I suppose someone will identify it for me before the season ends.
