Last weekend was our small town festival, Dexter Daze. We took the sidecars in the parade. I walked (OK I rolled on my trike) through the vendor area and found some interesting handicrafts amongst the network marketed cruft, and bought a decorative glass dish and some fudge. We hosted a BBQ for friends and neighbors, and then went to the fireworks. There was one bit of unusual excitement during the fireworks show: One of them exploded on the ground, on the launchpad across the river. I assume everyone over there was OK since the show went on, the trees didn't catch fire, and no ambulance came. But we could see people running around over there with flashlights, in the aftermath.

This week is a smaller event, the Plein Air festival. This is an open air painting event. 50 or 60 artists are entered, many from out of state. They paint several pictures each; apparently speed is part of the challenge. They are wandering town looking for inspiration. This afternoon, one of them has her easel set up across the street and is looking towards our house! How fun! I hope it turns out well enough to be shown. I am tempted to go and look, but I am staying out of her hair. We are actually hosting an artist in our spare bedroom, but the lady across the street is one of the others.
