I have been seeing the Pokemon Go players all week. There's a bench in front of the library that is very popular. The glow of phones can be seen there late into the evenings. But it's been sweltering, which damps outdoor activity. Yesterday it cooled off in the evening and the players were out in larger numbers. As I rode my scooter to the pool, I stopped to talk to several groups of teenagers who were playing. They tell me there are multiple Pokemon spots at the library including a gym and that's why so many players go there. But there are many other things to find around town as well, and you increase your strength in the game by moving around at walking speed, so the players are walking between the spots instead of driving.
One of the things I love about my neighborhood is the pedestrian traffic we get here. This game is adding to it, which is great. I hope the craze persists for a while.
