Mosquitoes
Jun. 26th, 2016 05:57 pmYesterday I opened a window I don't usually open, and I didn't notice the screen was off until the house had filled with mosquitoes. They kept me awake for hours. Even with the dry summer we are having, we have no shortage of the little pests.
I guess I'll go to bed early tonight!

Date: 2016-06-29 12:48 am (UTC)One of the neighbors, Karen, told me that when they took out the Mill Creek dam and drained the mill pond to give us the current wetland park, they stirred up 100 years worth of mosquitos and they've been bad ever since. I don't actually think they're 100 years worth, though - I think the wetlands is just a great environment for them so they do well here. That's why I want to put up bat houses.

Yep; I kid thee not. Sitting out on my deck used to be approximately hellish, until I put out a pedestal fan and sat my (sl)easy chair in front of it... Now I'm cool as a cucumber and totally unperturbed by those nasty little beeyotches.
