Breaking Rule 5

The couple who were renting the house at the other end of the block, drove by just before dark. They are leaving on a three-year, round the world trip. They have spent the last year farkling their jeep and their custom built teardrop trailer. The last few weeks, the farkling was happening at a feverish pitch. Justin told us he'd installed 400 feet of accessory wiring into that jeep. It is tidily packed, everything is miniature and still it's crammed. They put everything they're not taking, that didn't go in their moving sales, on the curb, and scavengers have been busy there; the pile is shrinking rapidly. Their lease ended yesterday, so they were about 20 hours late in leaving. The new tenants already moved in so I guess they had squeezed their last minute activities down to just the garage.

They are taking two dogs. I hope this doesn't make their border crossings impossible.

I remember that giant, high-end Jeep. I always wondered who lived there, since I rarely saw them. I don't even recognize their dogs, which is bad for me! I know lots of people travel with dogs, so there must be ways to do it - appropriate vet papers to have on hand and stuff like that. I hope it goes well for them. It sounds like they have money to fall back on if there are obstacles.

I never saw much of the dogs either. I knew that had some, but they never walked them this way. We didn't see much of them, either, until the last few weeks when they were constantly in the driveway with wrenches and we would say hi to them while getting the mail or whatever. I think they must have worked a lot of hours at whatever jobs they had, because they were rarely around.
