40 minutes, 7.1 miles
Jan. 10th, 2005 11:16 pmOK, I have now done two twenty minutes sessions on the trainer.
The first time I tried doing it while listening to This American Life. Unfortunately this doesn't work very well. I spent the whole time watching the clock and wondering why it was going so slow. My cadence was in the low 60s.
The second session, I tried playing some music and reading a magazine. This went much better, and in fact, every time I checked my cadence it was closer to 70.
I haven't done any intervals or anything, and I haven't pushed it very hard. My bike has touring gearing, and I'm spinning one of the middle-to-low gears. I don't have a gadget to measure heartrate, but I could tell it was elevated. I only sweated a little bit. One advantage of doing this in winter is that it's cold in here!
Elizabeth the cat interrupted me halfway through the second session. I had to stop pedaling so as not to kick her in the head, as she meandered about down below me and squawked at me. As soon as I stopped pedaling she went back to her heated cat bed and went back to sleep. I guess this activity disturbs her.
Now I have a new worry. I'm afraid a cat will get caught in the wheel. Yikes!
