I have had a game of Bejeweled going on my iPad for months now. I pick it up now and then and play it for a while. Somehow I just never seem to lose anymore, and it's soothing to move the colors into little rows and watch them disappear.

Last night Steve pointed out something that I hadn't noticed. My score was no longer incrementing. It had stopped at 2147483647.

A little googling found that this is an interesting number.

I guess this tells me something about the iPad, or maybe about the app itself. But I suppose that the fact that I reached the score where I cannot score anymore, also tells me I have played the game too much. I could pick a different game, I suppose, but maybe it would be better to just go read a book. :-)

Without googling, that looks like max - 32-bit - signed integer. I've had earlier games where gold values topped out at other, related, numbers like 32767 or 65535.

The new Neal Stephenson book, "Seveneves" is *excellent*... I pray there'll be sequels akimbo.
