We've got the flower pots with annuals set up on the deck railing again. The pots are different colors and the plants in them are a wide variety of colors as well. No two alike. We stuffed more into each pot than should perhaps have gone in there - they will get crowded and there will no doubt be attrition as the season goes on. That's fine; it means the pots are stuffed full for as much of the season as possible, rather than straggly and waiting to fill out. I love the multicolored effect!
Meanwhile the perennials in the rest of the garden are looking good as well. The weigela is blooming happily and so is the myrtle. There are a lot of buds on the rose bush we unearthed when we cut back the jungle last year. If it bloomed last year we never noticed it in that terrible thicket, but we'll see it this year. Steve reports that other roses are popping up in unexpected spots out there, so perhaps we have the invasive multiflora rose. Have to keep an eye on that..
