The problem is, I can't DO anything

This morning I rode the Ural to the Dexter Bakery, even though it's only about 1/10 mile from my house. After I ate my donut, I rode the Ural another two miles to the garden store, where I chose two hanging baskets of flowers. I made someone at the garden store take them down and carry them out to the bike for me. I eventually gave up on getting the bike into reverse, because my left foot wouldn't cooperate well enough for me to find neutral, reach down and shifting with my hand was exhausting and I was afraid I'd fall, and it was too tiring to climb off and on again. I was able to nudge it back just far enough that I could pull forward and make a u-turn. It's fortunate that the Ural turns on a dime. But shifting with either the toe or the heel shift, is very difficult; I hafta put my whole body into it because the foot just doesn't cooperate. I rode back to my house, where I parked the bike in the driveway about 20 feet from the front door. I carried the two hanging baskets up to the porch, one at a time. I went back to the bike and drove it into the garage.
I stumbled into the house, and down into the basement to put my laundry through. Then I sat in the chair for a while, recruiting my strength, before going upstairs to get more things to put in the wash.
That's it. I am done in. I can't do anything else today. I would hang these baskets but there are no hooks up there. The thought of driving to the store to get some hooks, and then trying to install them, is just too exhausting. So they will sit on the porch floor for now.
Next week, it's back to the doctors. I can't go on like this.
BTW, Thursday night I had another bad fall. :-(

Date: 2013-06-17 05:29 pm (UTC)Do you suppose a person could rig a pivoting inverted T handle on the handle bars, with cable going down to the shifter? Or an auxiliary right-side shifter?
Better would be if you can get your foot healed, would resolve both issues.
Take care, Eliz!
