elizillaYesterday Sharon called me and asked if I wanted to go see Nanci Griffith with her. I said "Sure! When and where?" Tonight, she said, at Meadowbrook. So today I raced up to Ferndale after work and picked her up, and we went to Meadowbrook.
Turns out she was confused. It wasn't Nanci Griffith. It was the "Sweet Harmony" tour, with Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Patti Griffin, and some other performers I was unfamiliar with. Works for me.
It was a good show. They mostly sang songs that one or the other of them had recorded individually in the past, but they sang them together in sweet harmonies. I'll have to watch for a tour CD if they make one.
The show wasn't sold out and there must have been a lot of free or cheap tickets distributed, because there were people outside the gates giving away their extra tickets. A number of tickets were just left on the ground or on top of the garbage cans.
Phil was supposed to bring my truck back up here today or tomorrow, but I hadn't heard from him. I called him from the gates, because I knew he'd love to see this show. If he had been nearby, on his way up here with my truck, I was going to suggest he grab a free ticket and join us. But he was in Columbus, so all I could do was tease him about the show he was missing. I called him during the show and let the music play into his voice mail for a little while too. :-)
