Sookie Stackhouse

I heard an interview with the author on public radio last week, and she sounded interesting. I was in the mood for something light, so I picked up the first Sookie Stackhouse book. Gah. How can something this awful get so much attention? It seems like it would at least have some flow and some style, but it's awkward and just plain terrible.
