The sun is low in the sky

For a couple weeks in midwinter, if we happen to have sunshine, it is low enough to shine in under the porch roof in the midafternoon, and shine in my eyes. This will happen for the next six weeks or so, whenever we are so lucky as to get a sunny day. I hate to close the curtains, so I should go find my wide brim hat.

And winter-time sun seems so much more blazing. Maybe it is, from the lack of moisture in the air.
