I would suspect there are legal liability issues involved in the event someone gets sick from something they brought in with them rather than something the restaurant served.
Or it's because of liquor licenses, they can't let people BYOB. But I still think it's funny to worry about people bringing their own food to an all-you-can-eat place. The non-buffet restaurants in my neighborhood don't generally have signs prohibiting outside food - it's kinda assumed. I wonder what happened, or what the person who posted that sign really fears?
If you're talking about a buffet in Ypsi, as far as I know all of them also have a menu. And they also may not want a situation where one person at the table orders the buffet, and everyone else brings McDonald's.Nobody bothers to come up with a sign like that until they have a problem they think requires it.
