I am here.
The air travel was an ordeal. I thought I left early enough for my flight but I think I lost an hour somewhere, and I was in line at security when my flight took off. So instead of getting here a comfortable six hours before I was expected to attend anything, I got to fly standby all over the USA and then arrive fifteen minutes before the first scheduled thing.
The hotel is a labyrinth. It is called Aria. It has about ten restaurants, a permanent installation of Cirque de Soleil, and about a million casino thingies. I think I walked a mile between where the airport shuttle let me out, and the hotel check in desk. I think I was going in circles, too.
My skirts are too long and my shoes not cruel enough for me to fit in here.
The rooms here have everything controlled off the TV remote. I didn't bring a 12 year old, so I had a huge struggle just to figure out how to close the drapes and turn off the music. The alarm clock is on the TV and I can't figure out how to set it. The TV control panel screen tells me that the inside temperature is 72F and the outside temp is 92F. I think it is confused. There are four bathrobes, two pairs of slippers, an oval tub, a huge collection of toiletries, and complimentary chocolates. There's no coffeepot, and I am wondering if there's a button on the TV remote that will make coffee come out of the wall? I don't care since I don't drink coffee, but it's odd in such a fancy room not to have coffee.
Dinner was sponsored by Microsoft SQL Server. There must have been 1000 people in there, probably because of the free drinks. I just had water and diet coke. I was thirsty after my circular hike. The food was spread out with a dozen different buffets each with a line. I just had the curry because it was not popular enough to have much of a line and I was exhausted and starving. It was pretty good. Last week when I was at the meeting where they told us what we gotta do here, they said don't just hang with other coworkers, mingle with the customers, so I found a table full of strangers with one empty seat. It was good to get off my feet.
