Street slicing, cont

They have peeled up about half of the square they outlined with their saws, the other day, and they're now filling it in with asphalt. The square is about 10 feet by 15 feet. This apparently requires a dozen large trucks and about 20 guys. Hopefully the large number of trucks and guys means it will be smoother than the two-guy-one-truck patches where they just shovel in some cold patch and let the cars squish it down.

I didn't see anyone do anything under the street there. They didn't dig a hole. The square they pulled up did have a smaller patch in it, but it wasn't a pothole. I'm still baffled.

Maybe they were installing a traffic sensor? Not the kind that controls the traffic lights. The kind that lets you look at Google maps and see how bad the traffic is.

I wouldn't mind if they were paying attention to the amount of traffic down my street, It's a subdivision street that people sometimes use to detour around a corner with a traffic light where the right turning traffic sometimes backs up. I'd like the Powers That Be to notice this. But IMHO, the problem with this isn't the numbers who do it - it's the speed some of them travel, and the ones who keep slamming into cars parked on the street and driving off without stopping. For that I think we need an occasional manned speed trap, but the police are short staffed and I've only seen traffic cops in here once in all the years we have lived here.
