Offroading the Ural
Sep. 2nd, 2012 09:24 pmToday I took the Ural offroad. There are snowmobile trails here where people take their ATVs in summer, on old railroad roadbeds. Jason G and Pelikan were on their dualsports behind me and Cpl Jason was in the sidecar. It was all good until the trail was blocked and we made a left and up a steep muddy slope with tree roots and rocks and overhanging branches. The Ural lost traction and we just stopped. Jason G came up and asked if I was gonna make it, and I said "I don't know. I guess we'll see!" I backed up a few feet and tried again, with Jason G pushing and Cpl Jason leaning head down over the passenger seat like a racing monkey, to lend more weight to the rear wheel. Up and over we went, getting whipped by the branches with inches to spare on either side. Pelikan, who had ridden the route the day before and said there was nothing difficult in there, said "Oh I forgot about that." LOL!
Doesn't seem to have hurt it.
