Rhino liner
Aug. 16th, 2012 02:44 pmI picked the Ural up yesterday. The Rhino Liner looks pretty good. Not perfect, but the slight imperfections fit with the general look of the bike. :) It is still outgassing a bit; it has that fresh paint smell. I reinstalled the horn, and the wiring for the lights is on the frame so it didn't have to come off. So the only thing that's not back in, is the accessory power outlet. Which I plan to change. I just need to decide how I want to do it.

Date: 2012-08-17 12:11 am (UTC)The painted surfaces of the sidecar were all red, inside and out. The black in the pictures is the Rhino. I had it applied to the inside of the passenger compartment, the inside of the trunk, the underside where stones would be kicked up by the road, and wrapping around a little bit on the sides to cover the spots that are all rusty on some of the older sidecars I have seen.

Date: 2012-08-17 01:38 am (UTC)I had to take the seats out, and also the wiring that was inside the car. They handled the rest. The seat is easy - reach down the crack at the back, find the strap, and pull. The bottom lifts out. Once you have the bottom out, the back pulls forward at the bottom, and angles out, leaving a large opening into the trunk. I put the seat back - it only took about 30 seconds. I haven't reinstalled any wiring yet. There was this ridiculously huge fuse panel assembly in there. A sort of metal platform about six inches square, with sharp edges. Sticking out from that, a generic fuse box with four fuses, under a clear plastic cover also with sharp edges, and a junky cig lighter glommed onto the side, with more sharp edges. Turned out three of the fuses weren't even attached to anything, and the fourth just went to the cig lighter plug. This was stock, not aftermarket, but it was really crappy. I'm not putting any of it back in. Passengers kept banging their knees on it. I'll put a better fuse panel in the trunk, where it won't get banged around or rained on.
