One hazard of living in the suburbs and working from home, is that you get to sit and listen to the lawn care equipment that never, ever stops. Come ON, can't you finish and go away? Sheesh.

Preach. Our lawn care guys always seem to come by - like, weed-whacking right beneath my window - when I'm trying to do a training session. Argh!!

The worst of it is the damned leaf-blowers. I'm not sure they save any time over a rake or a broom, and they make a helluva lot more noise.

Feel your pain.
Also annoying are the external AC fans that are not properly lubricated and are left running all day (why? no one is home!). Ironically, the repair folks come out for them at least once a year (after a blissful week of silence when the fan finally dies), lubricate it, but never seem to give proper instructions to the owners about lubrication needed for the bearings.

They're left running because it's more efficient to "step back" a little than to completely shut down. With heat pumps it's more efficient to stay at a constant temp than to have to have it ramp up from being down all day.
