Omnifi car unit, free to good home

I just removed the Omnifi MP3 player from my truck. This is the car stereo that has a 20GB hard drive, so you can play MP3s in the car, and there's a wireless link to download the latest content from your computer every night via your wireless LAN.

The selection buttons don't work when they're cold, and I never drive my truck long enough to get it warm enough to select something different. I ended up letting it play the same album over and over for months, and if I'm going to do that I might as well just play a CD.

I know some other people on my friends list also own car Omnifis. Does anyone need a parts Omnifi? Heck, even if you don't have an Omnifi already, but you regularly drive enough to warm up your car stereo, you could just run this one.

Man, I'm always game for free stuff and the stereo in my truck is kind of goofy but I hardly ever drive anyway (and I don't know where I'd mount it on the Hayabusa).

Hope it goes to a good home though!

I thought real hard about installing it in a motorcycle, when I first got it. But it's just too bulky, too fragile, and too difficult to arrange the controls.

It's probably warm enough for it to work almost all the time, where you are. I can ship it to you if you like, just let me know.

I got a kick out of playing with it, yeah. I enjoyed the notion of updating it wirelessly and automatically, even though I never drove enough to listen to the content I put out there.

I've got a home & car Omnifi too. I installed it in the CRX, but didn't bother when I bought my Prius. I listen to podcasts through my phone these days. At home I now use XBMC for everything.

I've been meaning to ebay off both units, but never got around to it. I wonder it's it's still even worthwhile.

I still use my house unit and I still like it lots. I bought a second house unit to set up in my garage, but haven't used it. I paid $35 for the second house unit, new-in-box, on eBay, and that was a couple years ago. Probably not worth the trouble anymore. At that time the car units were still going for quite a bit more, but were rarer. Since then, technology has marched on, though. I guess you could do some searches and see.
