They're claiming my mattress has no warranty because it was a floor sample. It was not a floor sample, I wouldn't have bought a floor sample mattress, the very idea grosses me out. Someone probably made a mistake on the paperwork, but they've chosen to insinuate that I'm crazy/irrational/stupid instead of resolving the issue.
They claim that the fact I didn't pay MSRP proves it was a floor sample, as if Art Van has ever put a price tag on anything that didn't say "MSRP $X, Sale $X/2, today only!" And they say I signed something that says I agree that there's no warranty on floor samples - which makes sense because the headboard/footboard I bought at the same time *was* a floor sample.
I don't have a copy of the invoice, it's all in their computer. And it's not like I videotaped my purchase for future reference, or photographed the price tags hanging in the store. But I know they're wrong, and I consider their excuses unethical.
If they'd said "We're not accepting this warranty claim because you abused this mattress by using the bed as a reading chair" I would have completely accepted it, because we do abuse it in that way. In fact I wasn't even planning to claim it, until their salecritter tried to sell me the same mattress again, and we got into a debate about whether this is a good mattress. It's obviously not a good mattress for the way I use it. The salescritter wanted to sell it to me again, and was using the warranty as a selling point, so I got sucked down this path of trying to claim on the warranty, and now they're using bullshit reasons to evade the claim.
All of this just makes me think I don't want to do business with them. Why buy products that don't serve my needs, from people who are either incompetent or unethical? There are a dozen mattress warehouse stores in town, and I could probably buy a better mattress for less money at any of them.
But still... Jerks! Have you climbed high enough in the pecking order with complaints?
Someone at Meijer corporate apologized to me, and I shop there again. Ford ignored me, and I've bought 2 new cars elsewhere. (1 since I mailed the complaint to corporate.)
