Travel reservations

This time, the travel department is having me stay at the Radisson in Chelmsford, MA. At least there are restaurants in that neighborhood. I'll be there Sunday March 7 through Friday March 12. Anyone in the area wanna hang out with me some evening? I'll be on day shift this time, so I'll be out by 6pm, maybe earlier.

I've reserved a rental car to drive out in, on my own without involving the travel department at work. I just bill my work for the mileage. They don't care, since it costs them less than me flying out and renting a car, and this way I don't have to track all the receipts, and I don't have to justify my choice of vehicle or the dates when I pick it up. I'd pay more for a fun car. But none of the rental car companies ever seem to have one available. Some of the companies have a category called "Convertible" but there are never any available. Why do they have this category if they never have any cars in it?

Don't be so sure I won't have a bike out there. I may drive out in a car, but I have ways of getting myself back on two wheels once I'm there.

My boss will have such a fit if she sees me pull up on a bike on Monday morning! Too bad I have to take all those computers to the office or I'd do it, just to keep them on their toes. :-)

Here are some good local rides--check "Rides and Route Sheets". Be aware that Mr. Holbrook has a penchant for dirt roads, and some of them may be muddy and/or still have some snow/ice on them this time of year. If you wanted a shortish local ride on all paved roads, I could be convinced to run the "Local Loop--Northwest".

To torture us?
It's like comparisson shopping for flights and hotels on the web with "web specials and great deals!" only to find the deal is so restricted... like, you can only fly in winter and must stay two weeks and be born in the month of June.

Whereas, on one trip to Boston, I rented a "compact car, auto" and got a candy-apple-red convertible Ford Mustang. I think it was supposed to be in the "convertible" category, but they ran out of compacts, and it got moved over. I was not displeased.

Yep. (I replied to previous entry before noticing this one.) No weeknight is actually good for me (I *hate* having to wake up at 6:15am to get to work), but the best bets are Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.
