The battery in my cell phone has suddenly decided that the phone must go dead very quickly when removed from the charger. This phone is old enough to replace for free with the whole Verizon "New Every Two" thing. So I have ordered a new phone. It won't get here for a couple of days. So, be aware that my phone isn't working very well right now. If you need to reach me, send email.

so, which phone did you end up getting?

Doesn't seem to be much point in getting a trimode phone from verizon anymore ... I think.

I just got one of those a few weeks back and I really like it. You'll want to get one of the micro SD cards if you plan on putting any music in it.

One thing the guy at the Verizon store told me was to update your cell tower list every couple of weeks. I think it's *228. Apparently you can drain your battery rapidly while it hunts for towers that may have moved.

Verizon is supposed to be all-digital now, but I was analog roaming in West Virginia last week so I'm guessing their affiliates haven't all converted yet.

J is phone shopping now too. It hasn't gotten any easier to find a phone with good RF capability. It's clearly easier to evaluate photo and audio capability.

Need a media card?

Since I'm dumping my RAZR V3m in favor of something that doesn't use microSD cards (the Treo takes SD & SDIO cards, and I already have a 2Gb SD), I'll soon have a 512K micro card w/the micro<->SD adaptor for your cardreader available, if you're interested.

The mp3 player in the RAZR isn't all it's cracked up to be anyway, but having an extra half-gig[1] of storage for those quick-n-dirty photos you swore you didn't need a camera-phone for but suddenly found yourself snapping anyway is kinda nice...

(who already has a 2Gb SD card waiting for the new Tre-i-e-i-o...)

[1] I know I said 512K up there,^ but it's actually 512Mb. Seems my personal "internal memory" ain't what it usd to be. Again.

That would explain why your phone kept dieing down in Vermont -- it was just your phone.
