I've got a skunk (or maybe two? I'm not gonna get close enough to tell how many) living part-time under my back deck, and most of the time it's pretty uneventful out there. I think the skunk(s) time-share between my back yard and the neighbors' vegetable gardens. It/he/she/they? tried moving into the woodchuck burrow underneath my bike shed, but the woodchucks took severe umbrage at that maneuver (as you might expect), which resulted in me having to move into a local hotel for a week or so 'til the after-effects of the chemical warfare cleared up.
