How many people do you need to get in a room before you have fifty-fifty odds that two of them have the same birthday? Only 23. (Assuming that birthdays are evenly distributed throughout the year, which they're not, in the real world.)
It's called "the Birthday Paradox" because that number seems to most people to be shockingly small.
Actually my birthday is Jan 2. Same as browngirl. I just keep posting to my journal about what happened "today" at some time after midnight. technically I should say "yesterday" but it doesn't feel like yesterday until I've slept.
Today, Jan 3, is my brother's birthday. Should I call him? Or not? Which one is less likely to upset him?
