OK, so here I am
Dec. 6th, 2003 02:46 amThough I don't really know what to say. My life is pretty boring most of the time. I suppose the trick is just to get started, write about my day. So here goes.
I'm a night person, and I work 11am to 8pm, because I live in the eastern timezone but I do phone support for pacific timezone. I work from home. It's almost 3am here, and while technically I suppose it's Saturday, it still feels like Friday to me.
Today I had to set an alarm and get up early so I could join a 10am conference call with a new executive. He's about four levels above me in the org chart but he's new and wants to meet everyone, even those of us who don't work out of the office. It was kinda cool, actually; he seemed pretty interested in what he could do to smooth the paths of people who work remotely from their homes.
After the meeting I worked on some cases, and then took a break to go to UPS. I've been selling stuff on eBay, and I end up going to UPS a couple times a week to ship it out. It's kind of cool, it's like getting paid to move into a bigger house. I've been here ten years now and a lot of junk has accumulated, so it's good to be clearing some of it out.
Michael took Mac to the vet yesterday to have his a checkup. Earlier this year Mac was diagnosed with a thyroid condition, this is why he is always meowing for more food but he keeps getting thinner. Good news today, he had gain three ounces. The vet called today to say that the bloodwork came back and his thyroid is still a bit elevated so they want to increase the dosage. Fortunately when the cat is constantly ravenous like this, it's easy to crush pills and put them in his food.
I cleaned out another pile of stuff from the closet today. Found a whole stack of paycheck stubs from 1996, floppy disks with the OneHelluvaRide mailing list from the early 1990s, ConFusion concom agendas from 1993, a bunch of hotel key cards, my calendar from 1995, a couple pairs of hideous old eyeglasses, some old coins, and pictures from the house where I used to live on Duncan Street, Steve's forge, and the women's ski outing to Blue Mountain. Also a picture of me in a black velvet dress wearing some earrings I used to wear all the time, that I liked a lot, and which I cannot now find. Maybe I'll eventually find those earrings if I keep going through old boxes. I threw everything away except the coins, the calendar and the pictures. Maybe I'll put the coins up on eBay.
I used to get so much more done all the time. What has happened to me?
