elizillaMy neighbor just called. Remember about two weeks ago her car got stolen? I think I posted about that here. She's been driving a rental car while the insurance gets sorted out. This morning when she came out, someone had broken in to her rental car and tried to steal it. They pried open the ignition and tried to start her car. The police officer showed her how, once they pop off the ignition they can turn it with a screwdriver. When he did it, the car stalled. He tried a couple times and it stalled each time. He said that's probably why the car was still there this morning.
I haven't had any trouble with car thieves, even though my truck is brand new and I don't even lock the doors. The Ford has this passive anti-theft thing where it won't start if the key doesn't have the proper microchip. Michael leaves his Honda parked in the street, unlocked, with change in plain sight, and he's had no trouble. The cops think the thieves are targeting Kim because she has Chryslers. But I wonder if they are targeting Kim for some other reason? I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble with cars getting stolen here. Maybe Kim has an enemy.
