My eyesight is going downhill. I think it's just presbyopia but I do have an eye doctor appointment coming up to get it checked. Anyways, it seems like everything is getting tinier and harder to look at.

So I bought a larger monitor. Old monitor is 24", new one is 30.5". And the new one has much finer resolution as well.

The new monitor arrived last week and yesterday we put the old monitor away, unboxed the new one and set it up. And then could not figure out how to plug in the power cord. It's a very ordinary brick with one of those round plugs on the end, but it wouldn't fit in the hole on the back of the monitor. We even took the monitor off the mount and turned it upside down to examine it better. With a flashlight and a magnifying glass. Nope. The outside diameter seems fine but the pin in the middle of the socket is too big to fit in the hole on the plug.

Finally compared the writing on the monitor with the writing on the power brick. The monitor says it needs 19V and 4.74A. But the brick says it is 19V and 1.58A.

Yes this is the brick that came in the box with the monitor. The old monitor didn't have a brick, just one of those three prong cords. And this room is super tidy, no electronic detritus that could have led to a cord mixup. The box looked in decent shape, not like an open box item.

What kind of manufacturer puts the wrong cord in the box?

I went to Viewsonic's website and asked if they can send me the right cord. I don't want to deal with return shipping on this enormous box!
