Despite living in a new house, we have a few stray ants wandering around. I don't want them to find anything that will encourage them to call their friends in.

I'm not much good at tasks like vacuuming, these days, and I hate to always be begging other people to do it. So, I ordered a robot vacuum. It arrived this morning and I have it toddling around doing its thing, even while I am working.

It is not super loud. But it has filled its dust tray once already, and found its way back to its base. I had it confined to just this room, for that test. Round two is in progress now, and I am letting it wander the whole second floor. It is supposed to be smart enough not to tumble down steps, but I have blocked them off with a chair just in case.

It is a Eufy brand. It is low enough to get under a lot of our furniture. It isn't a fancy model with GPS or anything, it just bumbles around at random. We have mostly hardwood floors, with throw rugs, and I am pleased to report it is crossing on and off of the rugs quite easily. None of our rugs have fringe, so no issues there either.

It is now in the bathroom, where it is managing to run back and forth over the bathmat, without getting stuck. I am letting it go where it chooses; it will be interesting to see if it finds its way back to the base before it runs out of battery. The user manual says it can go 100 minutes on a charge.
