There was more traffic than usual on our street yesterday, but nothing interesting. Just more cars. Last night, we went downtown and all the booths were all set up in the park for the various vendors and organizations. The streets that get blocked, were blocked, and the temporary "No Parking" signs were all in place. Friday is garbage day, and on a normal Friday the recycles get picked up a little before 9am, the trash in late morning and the compost in the afternoon. This morning I woke to noisy garbage trucks around 7am, and by 9:30 all three trucks had been by - they're pushing to get it done before things get crazy. Now, it's like the calm before the storm. Someone has turned their kids loose with a golf cart - I have seen it go by a half dozen times; the driver looks about 12 years old and the other kids all smaller. Bob and Dee had a contractor come to take away the rocks they dug up, and they've come and gone - I'm sure they know it'll be nuts here by noon. Up on the corner, one of the neighbors has set up a garage sale. By noon cars will be shoehorned in to every space on our street including some really stupid ones. But right now it is quiet.

There are fireworks scheduled for tonight, in Mill Creek Park, which is about a block away. Tomorrow morning, the parade will end on our street. We have promised to take the little nephews in the sidecars in the parade.

Edit 12:35pm: Neighborhood is getting pretty parked up, but there are still some reasonable spots left. Despite this, some loser in a shiny new Ford chose to park on the crosswalk. I called the non-emergency number for the police and requested they send an officer out to ticket this car if they get a chance. I don't care if they park on our grass or block our driveway, please do and you're quite welcome; we love seeing all the crowds come through. But this is a super busy sidewalk, especially today, and a lot of people are trying to get through here with strollers, pulling wagons, etc. Jerk.
