Spritz cookies
Jan. 4th, 2015 03:52 pmOther people are sharing some cooking tricks so I though I'd follow suit. Here's mine: Take your favorite basic recipe for spritz cookies, and substitute a box of powdered jello for some of the sugar. Cherry jello for pink cookies and lime jello for green ones.
The cookies turn out pink or green with tart fruity flavor and a slightly different texture. I think they're pretty good.
I was making them pink and green for Christmas, as usual, and had an idea. What if you made even MORE colors, and rolled them into thin strings which you could combine like Fimo into logs that you could refrigerate to make them hard enough to slice, instead of putting it through the press. It would be like tie-dye cookies! Or maybe they'd just mix too much and turn out ugly and grey. I might have to try it just to see. Maybe make the dough a little harder, somehow...
