Riding new and old motorcycles
Oct. 21st, 2012 11:28 pmYesterday I rode the Super10 to Powerlet's shop. It is going to be photographed for their catalog. I thought they were going to do that yesterday, but they were a bit scrambled, so now they want to come and pick it up from me with a trailer, and take it somewhere. That's fine - it gave me time to bring it home and wash it.
Today after a nice ride on the Ural, where I actually got to ride in the sidecar myself, I got to take a short ride on a 1940 Ariel Square Four. It was peculiar. The shifter is on the wrong side and upside down. Also, the bike has a really really low seat height, and the front brakes are worse than
mistrtoad's. I just rode in circles in the parking lot; I never got above second gear. I didn't want to grind the gears any worse, or drop it, so I didn't want to take it out in traffic.
Also today I installed my new used spare wheel carrier and luggage rack. Now my Ural looks official. :)
