Jan. 12th, 2006 12:12 amI almost neglected to write about this! An exciting thing happened here last week. Michael went in for laser eye surgery. It's really incredible that they can do it so quickly and easily. I don't think we were there for two hours. Then he had to keep his eyes closed for the rest of the day, except when he had to put the drops in them every hour. And he had to wear plastic eye shields to protect them until the next morning. But by the next day he could see! It's amazing.
They can't correct presbyopia, so he has to wear reading glasses, but everything else is corrected. He drove himself to his followup appointment the next morning, and came back with a sackful of reading glasses he got at the dollar store. He says he figures he'll lose or destroy them the same way he did with sunglasses when he used to wear contacts, and why carry a pair around if he can just scatter them everywhere so there's always a pair convenient to hand when he needs them?
He sees halos around car headlights when he drives in the dark, but this is supposed to go away slowly over the next few months. He can go skiing this weekend if he wants.
It's extremely cool. Maybe I will have it done too.
