Aug. 25th, 2004 02:07 amIain's computer isn't logged into AIM anymore. It was kind of odd having him still there, in idle state, on my IM screen. Like a ghost. Yet somehow comforting. Seeing him gone from AIM is just so... final.
I'm picturing someone, perhaps his mother, or one of his friends in Edmonton, powering his computers down, unplugging the cables and putting the various components in boxes. I hope it is someone who respects their importance. The computers were part of who he was.
It seems so sad, to think of someone wiping their hard drives, installing Microsoft software on them, taking them over. I'm trying to think of it like organ donation. I hope whoever uses those computers next appreciates them, because they meant a lot to him.
